Bertram Sonja
Founder & PresidentSonja Bertram is a German actress and singer. She has appeared since the age of 14 in numerous German TV series and films, including "Hand aufs Herz," "Wege zum Glueck," and the German loveboat series, "Das Traumschiff." Sonja studied vocal performance at the Cologne University of Music. Sonja lived in Abuja, Nigeria from 2021 to 2024 where she learned Hausa and began to work with partners on projects to assist children near the Federal Capital Territory. Sonja is currently continuing her studies in California.
Umar Hussaini
Chairman/Country DirectorMr. Umar Hussaini is a Nigerian Educator and philanthropist with going concerns in Humanitarian Aid. Umar has 20 years of experience in various education fields. He is a Language and Culture Instructor at United States Embassy in Abuja Nigeria. A language translator working on projects survey materials, he has worked with many International Organizations in different fields of human life, these organizations include The World Bank, WHO, CDC, Bionomial Optimus/ITAD, Palladium Propcom, IPA, R. DATS and Center for the Study of the Economy of Africa (CSEA) to mention a few. He obtained a Nigerian Grade II teacher Certificate of Education at College of Arts and Legal Studies Minna Niger State. In addition, Mr.Umar obtained a Nigerian Certificate of Education at Niger State College of Education. Umar also attended Language Instructors Training in Washington DC, at School of Language Studies under the United States Foreign Service Institute. As child with poor background, Umar was also a product of Almajiri System of Islamic Education Practiced in Northern Nigeria. He is now furthering his education at National Open University of Nigeria. Corresponding to his strong Passion for Education, Umar always believed that ‘education is essential for protecting and empowering society as a whole. Mr. Abubakar Mustapha
Program CoordinatorMr. Abubakar is a Nigerian business man. He was a chairman for trader’s association for six years. Abubakar was a victim Boko Haram Crises in the north east Nigeria. Mr. Abubakar fled his home alongside his family. Since then, Abubakar has been participating in humanitarian aid programs. He has work with many NGOs at IDPs in Abuja and beyond. Through his efforts lives of many children, women and youths were transformed. Mr. Abubakar is is currently the chairman of Karonmajigi IDP camp in the suburb of Abuja.
Toba Mayowa Jerry
General Secretary and ICT ManagerWith over a decade of experience in the ICT sector, Toba has dedicated his career to empowering the next
generation of innovators across Nigeria and Africa. His passion for technology education is evident in his
commitment to teaching coding and robotics to children.
From 2019 to 2021, Jerry was the Africa Code Week Ambassador to Nigeria, a role in which he significantly
impacted the nation’s tech education landscape. During his tenure, he trained over 10,000 kids and 5,000 teachers,
equipping them with essential skills in coding and robotics. His work has been instrumental in promoting digital
literacy and fostering a love for technology among young learners.
Jerry’s influence extends beyond Nigeria. He has collaborated with the Federal Ministry of Education in both
Nigeria and Ghana to advance digital literacy through coding and robotics. He also worked with Google on the CS
First project, coordinating initiatives in northern Nigeria.
As an international referee and coach for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL), the world’s largest robotics competition,
Jerry has played a key role in shaping the competitive landscape in West Africa. He has coordinated the regional
and national FLL competitions in Nigeria and Ghana from 2017 to 2023.
Driven by a vision to make coding and robotics accessible to every child, Jerry continues to lead initiatives that
inspire and prepare youth for the digital age. His contributions have not only shaped the future of countless
students but have also strengthened the foundation of technology education across the continent.
